Meet Our Team


Cole Scrogham

Founder of Madison Automotive Apprentices, dedicated to educating and preparing future automotive enthusiasts and advocates. 4-time overall national Concours winner and Restoration specialist with the Porsche brand, 8-time Champion team owner in Motorsport competition and wins at all major tracks in North America. Master’s Degree in Public Administration from James Madison University. 

Claire Wayand
Media & Design Manager

Claire is responsible for the overall visual content and promotion of MAAP’s brand within JMU’s Communications branding guidelines. Her love for beautiful cars has grown since working at MAAP and she is even developing a new website/app for automotive enthusiasts. 

Erik McIntosh
Automotive Intern

JMU Junior Engineering major and three-time MAAP Intern, with a few restoration projects in the works. Enjoys anything outdoors like skiing and snowboarding and loves to build furniture from scratch in his free time. He hopes to become an automotive engineer after graduation. 

Josh Holland
Automotive Intern

Rising sophomore Industrial Design major. Josh's favorite car moment was racing go-karts as a kid. He doesn't have a favorite car but he loves the Singer Porsche and R32 GTR. Josh has his own mobile detailing business, likes doing track days, currently restoring his 1971 Ford F1oo and enjoys anything car related. 

Ian O'Brien
Automotive Intern

Ian is a rising senior ISAT production systems major. He has participated in lots of MAAP events and helped out every Friday at the shop during his junior year. His favorite car moment was when he drove the Bugatti EB110 at Amelia Island and loaded it behind a MKIV Ford GT40! His favorite car would have to be a Koenigsegg Agera S. Ian loves to spend his free time anything car related like building custom carbon fiber parts to learning how to track his Toyota 86 at VIR and Pitt Raceway. 

Jordan Prax
Automotive Intern

Two-time automotive MAAP intern, Senior JMU Engineering major, with math, and Business minors. Previous 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle and 1983 Yamaha Virago owner from Charlottesville, VA. Jordan has participated in multiple MAAP events like Amelia Island Concours, Dynamic Chassis Insitute and a few Cars & Coffees. He works on his motorcycle and other various restoration projects in his free time. 

Kevin Borg
Board of Directors

Professor of History, faculty advisor to Madison Motorsports student organization, Coordinator Science, Technology & Society minor. Teaching & research areas include: history of American automobile cultures, social history of American technology, & public history.

Bill Wyatt
Board of Directors

Director of Communications and University Spokesperson for James Madison University as well as a graduate of the JMU Masters of Public Administration. He is an avid NASCAR fan and lives in Harrisonburg with his wife and six children.

Alex Smith
Board of Directors

Former Vice President for Development for Collegiate School in Richmond, First place winner for Direct Mail from CASE in 1981, multiple awards from CASE in ’80, ’81, ’84, ’87, ’89. Past President of the Porsche Club of America – Shenandoah Region. Raised over $167 million for seven capitol campaigns at Collegiate School and MAAP board member.

William Ritchie
Professor, Business Management

JMU Business Professor and motorsport enthusiast. He comes into MAAP every week to work on his engine and has hosted multiple COB field-trips to MAAP for a supply-chain class. William (Bill) is now a MAAP Board Member.

Teresa Hanger
Clingman & Hanger

Teresa is an active board member at MAAP, specializing in event management. She contributes to MAAP productions and executes decisions to further MAAP's mission.
