2021 Porsche Parade Entry

Summer may be quiet around the shop but we are still hitting the road to represent MAAP at nationwide industry events. In July, we packed up the trailer and headed to French Lick for this year’s Porsche Parade. Participating in a unique way, both as a vendor and support crew for two special Concours entries. Three interns and MAAP founder Cole Scrogham were present at the well-attended event in Indiana to support those entries and share a little bit about MAAP with Parade entrants.

The Porsche Parade Historic Display was a special mix of cars, organized by color with the theme of “Blow the Lid off Summer”, featuring open top Porsche cars. MAAP brought a very special 550A Spyder for the display that was a Werks (factory) LeMans entry in the 1950’s, finishing 3rd at that event and later winning the Nurburgring race that same year. The car is owned by a special collection and friend of MAAP, and was later featured in Parade Hospitality adjacent to the vendor booth where interaction between PCA members and MAAP interns was a welcome treat.

The second MAAP entry was for Shenandoah Region PCA members and MAAP supporters Hank and Jolly Weil of Crozet, Va. Their beautiful Guards Red 1994 Speedster won the overall award for the Preparation Group, scoring 299 out of 300 points. This special Speedster had been at MAAP for many months in preparation, and the final onsite prep was carried out by the Weil’s and their loyal band of MAAP interns. Their win capped over a decade of trying to win this award, congratulations to Hank and Jolly on their great success!

MAAP was well represented at the Porsche Parade, and many people asked the inevitable question, “What is MAAP?” The interaction that followed this question between interns and interested PCA members will surely bring more attention to the MAAP story, as the automotive connection between generations continues.
