Cole Scrogham
CEO/Founder
Founder of Madison Automotive Apprentices, dedicated to educating and preparing future automotive enthusiasts and advocates. 4-time overall, national Concours winner and Restoration specialist with the Porsche brand. 8-time Champion team owner in Motorsport competition and wins at all major tracks in North America. Master’s Degree in Public Administration from James Madison University.

Managing projects, interns and events, Michael is bridging the gap between generations at MAAP. National PCNA Concours winner and Madison Engineer of the Year 2017 at James Madison University.

Interns

Kai McCloskey (’26)
Industrial Design Intern
Kai is a 4th-year Industrial Design student at JMU with a passion for creative details. He’s always appreciated the smaller elements in designs that make a big impact on the final product. Kai loves the outdoors and has more than a few nerdy interests. He aims to work in color, materials and finish within and outside of the automotive industry.
Michael Gerber (‘26)
Workshop Engineering Intern
Michael Gerber is a 4th-year Computer Science major with a minor in both Computer Information Systems and Data Analytics. His passion for cars began with a college friend and quickly grew through his involvement with JMU’s Madison Motorsports, where he now serves as Vice President. Michael fits right into the Porsche environment here at MAAP owning a 1983 Porsche 944 and a 2017 Porsche Cayenne. He enjoys automotive photography, sim racing, and exploring the intersection between technology and performance in the automotive world.


Julio Diez-Arguelles (‘27)
3D Modeling and Engineering Intern
Julio is a 3rd-year Engineering student at JMU with a minor in Mathematics. Originally from Cuba, he brings a vibrant curiosity and enthusiasm for all things automotive. He’s especially excited about 3D printing and its potential in car design and customization. Julio loves coffee, cars, and the hands-on experience that comes with building and creating. He is eager to gain valuable skills here at MAAP for a future in automotive engineering.
Lexy Farinelli (’27)
Media and Marketing Intern
Lexy is a 3rd-year student at JMU studying Media, Arts, and Design, Sports and Recreation Management, and General Business. She found her love for the automotive world in high school and has not looked back since. What started with sports cars grew into a passion for motorcycles and motorsports of all kinds. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a career in the automotive industry, with a dream of one day working in MotoGP.

Kevin Borg
Board of Directors
Professor of History, faculty advisor to Madison Motorsports student organization, Coordinator Science, Technology & Society minor. Teaching & research areas include: history of American automobile cultures, social history of American technology and public history.
John Odden
Board of Directors
Former President and owner of Quantum Controls, Inc. Past President of the regional Porsche Club of America. MAAP board member. JMU graduate in Marketing and Management, 1977.


William Ritchie
Professor, Business Management
JMU Business Professor and motorsport enthusiast. He comes into MAAP every week to work on his engine, and has hosted multiple COB field-trips to MAAP for a supply-chain class. William (Bill) is now a MAAP Board Member.
Teresa Hanger
Clingman and Hanger
Teresa is an active board member at MAAP, specializing in event management. She contributes to MAAP productions and executes decisions to further MAAP’s mission.


Danny Marshall
VA House of Delegates
Represents the 14th House District (includes Danville, parts of Pittsylvania County and parts of Henry Country) in Virginia House of Delegates since 2002. Former President of Marshall Concrete Products of Danville and Synergy Racing President. Danville City Council 2000 – 2001.

Andrew Zirkle (’25)
Engineering Intern
Andrew Zirkle majored in Engineering and minored in Physics. He grew up on his family’s farm in Virginia. Andrew has always been interested in investigating how things work from a mechanical perspective. He credits his rural background with giving him experience in operating and fixing all sorts of machinery. Andrew restored a 1968 International 240 Utility tractor and is currently in the process of restoring a 1949 Dodge truck from the ground up.
Jack Sellers (’25)
ISAT Intern
Jack is a graduate from the Integrated Science and Technology major with a concentration in Environmental Science and Renewable Energy. He has an immense passion for cars, especially classics, and loves working on machines and learning how things are put together. For several years, he’s helped his grandparents on their cattle farm in Singer’s Glen, VA, gaining experience with his hands and various equipment. In his free time, he enjoys driving and maintaining his ’95 Mazda Miata.


Luke Gilmore (’25)
Marketing Intern
Luke, a marketing major at JMU, had always had a passion for cars and photography. He loves going to car shows and meeting new people who share the same interests as him. Today, he is excited to start his career in sales at Cvent. His dream car is a V10 Audi R8.
Jace Taylor (’24)
Engineering Intern
Jace was an engineering student at JMU. Throughout his time at JMU, he built a project car, a turbocharged Miata, and found a deep interest in learning anything and everything automotive related, specifically in engine tuning.


Josh Holland (’24)
Industrial Design Intern
Josh majored in Industrial Design here at JMU. He has a background in cars, having grown up surrounded by family members who raced vintage Porsches. He started his journey in racing by competing in karts from a young age. Later, restoring a 1971 Ford F100 and a 1969 Datsun 510, to be vintage raced.
Jake Mennes (’24)
Engineering Intern
Jake Mennes graduated from JMU with an engineering degree. He has a passion for designing things and loves taking things apart and putting them back together. He says that MAAP has opened his eyes to the classic car industry and has taught him countless lessons about building and designing.


Jack Gavin (’23)
Engineering Intern
Jack was a JMU Engineering major with minors in both math and physics. He had been fiddling with cars since before he was old enough to fall in love with driving them. Jack’s interest in cars sprouted from wrenching on his first car, a Mazda Miata. Outside of school and work, Jack is an avid mountain biker and enjoys anything involving the outdoors. Jack says an E30 M3 is his dream car.
Claire Wayand (’18)
Graphic Design Intern
Claire started at MAAP in 2017 as the first intern, managing everything from social media and marketing to design, website updates- even auto part repairs. After graduating in 2018, she joined full-time and began building an auto enthusiast platform on the side, which sparked her passion for product design. That experience led to roles in marketing design and eventually product design at a software company. Today, she runs wavydogdesign.com, helping startups with design, marketing and web/app development.


Ryan Estes (’22)
From: Waynesboro, VA
Degree: Anthropology
Dream car: 05-06 Ford GT
Ryan has been in love with cars from day one, from working on them, driving them, or studying their history and design. Working on his 1996 Bronco is a favorite pastime. His experience at MAAP was very hands-on, assisting in engine rebuilds, concours-quality restorations of both early and late-model Porsches, and simple mechanical tune-ups, as well as learning a lot about the collector car industry as a whole, the high-end collector car auction world, and gaining valuable experience in networking. Through connections at MAAP, he is now in Detroit, MI, working for a prominent Porsche and Ruf collector, as part of a team managing the collection and doing concours-level detailing and restoration.
