Student Internship
MAAP internships are open to all JMU students, regardless of major or discipline. Internships begin each year in the fall, and we encourage any student with an interest in automotive, motorsports, STEM, media, business, or nonprofit work to apply.

To get started, simply complete the internship application and return it to MAAP. You can submit your application via email or in-person.

Application Timeline:
Applications may be submitted at any time. For the 2026–2027 Academic Year, MAAP will begin reviewing applications on January 1, 2026, with final selections made by April 1, 2026.

Future Offerings
MAAP is preparing to expand its educational impact through a planned partnership with James Madison University’s School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE). SPCE supports lifelong, flexible, and professionally oriented learning for students and working adults, making it the ideal home for advanced automotive training programs.
We are working hard to develop a new certificate program. As an existing JMU‑affiliated training program, MAAP is uniquely positioned to deliver a certificate that blends academic structure with hands‑on, industry‑relevant experience.

Is the internship paid?
Yes, there are opportunities for a paid internship. This is made possible thanks to our generous donors!
Do I need to have experience with cars to apply?
No! You do not need to have any experience with cars! We encourage any student with an interest to apply.
Can I take a singular class?
We do not currently offer standalone classes, but we are partnering with SPCE to offer future certifications.
What kind of cars does MAAP work on?
MAAP works on all kinds of projects, but focuses on concours-level restorations for rare, historic, and specialty Porsche vehicles.
Does MAAP host events or workshops?
Yes! MAAP hosts many varying events! Check our socials for up-to-date information.
Who can participate in MAAP programs?
MAAP encourages everyone to come by and check out the shop, but we only offer internships to current JMU degree-seeking students.
Do I receive academic credit for MAAP courses?
You do not receive academic credit for a MAAP internship. However, JMU courses such as MAAP’s Supply Chain Management class can be completed for credit.
What’s the time commitment?
A sponsored internship typically requires a 10 hour commitment per week.
