Interns Share Their Concours Experience
“Helping to prepare not one, but two beautiful Porsches for the Amelia Island Concours was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I left with a profound appreciation for the hundreds, if not thousands, of hours dedicated to the restoration of an award-winning car. The incredible passion, kindness, and self-effacing demeanor of everyone I met, no matter how much they had accomplished, made me feel proud to be a part of this automotive community.” – Jack Sellers, Integrated Science and Technology
“Amelia was a weekend in the deep end of the luxury car world. I felt super lucky to be so closely involved behind the scenes, not only when it came to the cars we brought to the show, but the opportunity to shadow-judge was pretty unbelievable!” – Kai McCloskey, Industrial Design
“Amelia Island was an unforgettable experience! I had the chance to meet incredible racing legends and see some of the rarest cars in the world. It’s such a privilege to attend this event while still in college—it is always the highlight of my year. This might have been one of MAAP’s best showings yet. I was beyond excited when I found out we were bringing a Porsche 550A Spyder—a car I’ve never seen in person before. I’m so grateful I got to share this experience with my new coworkers and introduce them to what makes Amelia Island so special. It’s something I know I’ll miss deeply after graduation.” – Luke Gilmore, Marketing
“Seeing everyone’s hard work pay off at the Amelia Island Concours was a truly rewarding experience. Not only did I get to see cars I thought I would never see, but I also got to be a part of the process to show off two beautiful cars. In this position, I really felt the strength of the community and everyone’s passion for the art of car restoration and conservation.” – Andrew Zirkle, Engineering
