MAAP Motorsport Sim Upgrade

Thanks to generous funding, we’ve taken a major step toward one of our primary Campaign goals, upgrading our Motorsport Simulator! We have installed new, modern Simucube pedals and steering systems from SimCraft. This enhancement brings a new level of realism and responsiveness to our sim experience. Initial trials are underway with positive results!

Simucube Pedals and Steering Systems

The new hardware allows for precise force feedback and customizable pedal resistance. This makes it ideal for both competitive drivers and casual users. We’re currently developing a range of user profiles to ensure the simulator is accessible for everyone who comes to our shop from seasoned racers to curious newcomers. It is our hope that this tune will allow for a more realistic feel for accurate data gathering to be used as a motorsport teaching tool in the future.

Trial Runs with the New Sim

Sim racing can be fun for just about anyone, but here at MAAP, we hope our sim takes us to the next level. Our goal is to train students and professionals alike to simulate real-time data collection. This training is to prepare them for the reality of working on a motorsports team. We want them to experience the fast-paced nature of motorsports and develop the skills needed to prioritize the information that will be most useful to their team.

Words from Our Intern

“I’m currently working on making different profiles so it is usable by anyone. Like for example if a kid wants to try, we can move it to a lower profile that has less pressure on the pedals and the steering wheel has less torque,” — Workshop Engineering Intern, Michael Gerber

The Sim was a hit at our Cars and Coffee event!

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue refining the experience and expanding access to this exciting and fun technology!
